These license plate recognition cameras, known as ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) or LPR (License Plate Recognition), are specifically designed to capture vehicle plates with maximum accuracy in traffic monitoring and access control applications. They deliver perfectly readable plates in any condition and automatically process them through an advanced OCR (Optical Character Recognition) engine. The cameras store plate data in their internal memory and can compare it with a database, managing blacklists and whitelists, and performing automated actions such as opening gates. You can operate them via any browser, through the included IoVedo.RH software, or with the IoVedo.RH app. They can also be seamlessly integrated into your own custom software using the free developer SDK, HTTP CGI.

These license plate recognition cameras are far more advanced than our simpler license plate capture cameras, as they are equipped with a powerful OCR algorithm that converts the plate image into alphanumeric data. The OCR engine in these cameras has been further enhanced compared to previous generations and can achieve 100% reading accuracy when the camera is used under optimal conditions. This makes these cameras suitable for any application that requires the highest LPR accuracy.
Our OCR algorithm delivers 100% reading accuracy when images are captured under optimal conditions. Optimal capture almost always occurs in indoor applications over short distances, while outdoor environments may occasionally produce imperfect plate images due to unexpected factors such as unusual vehicle angles, dirty plates, bad weather, and more. For this reason, we state an average reading accuracy of 97% for our ALPR cameras. In the camera’s OCR settings, you can define the reliability level required for your application, ensuring that any plates that are not sufficiently readable are automatically ignored.
These ANPR cameras are equipped with an anti-glare system that allows them to capture license plates even at night, when standard cameras are blinded by vehicle headlights. In night mode, the cameras produce a very dark image that highlights the plate, illuminated in the darkness by the camera’s infrared illuminator, as shown in this example.
Unlike many other LPR cameras, which are actually standard 25 fps devices, our license plate recognition cameras capture at 50 fps. Thanks to this capability, they can perfectly freeze the plates of vehicles moving at speeds of up to 60 or 120 km/h. Models for lower speeds are more suitable for access control, while models for higher speeds are also suitable for traffic monitoring.

The OCR algorithm in our license plate recognition cameras can read not only European plates but also those from most other countries. You can select your target geographic region within the camera’s OCR settings. If you export to particularly uncommon or exotic regions, you can request a preliminary compatibility analysis from our customer service team before purchasing.
Although these cameras can read license plates in virtually any road-side scenario, the highest reading accuracy is achieved at the ideal distance of 5 to 30 meters. The cameras can be installed either above the roadway or on the roadside, maintaining an optimal height of 4 to 8 meters and an angle of less than 25° relative to the direction of vehicle travel. They can capture both front and rear plates, monitoring up to 3 lanes. Once the camera is installed, all adjustments can be performed remotely via computer.

These license plate recognition cameras are also ideal for automatic access control and for monitoring parking areas in businesses and hospitality facilities. They are equipped with 1 or 2 fully programmable onboard relays that can automatically activate access barriers, gates, or even audible alerts and lighting. The camera can trigger these outputs based on the detected license plate, enabling automated access for companies, hotels, campsites, and parking areas. The IoVedo.RK software also supports parking management with automatic calculation of available spaces.

These LPR/ANPR cameras can manage a license plate database containing up to 20,000 entries. You can maintain a list of authorized vehicles (whitelist) and unauthorized vehicles (blacklist) and trigger automatic actions depending on whether the detected plate is in these lists or is unknown. Plates are uploaded from a computer, but they reside in the camera’s internal memory, allowing it to perform its automated functions independently, even without a network connection.

With low light or at night, these cameras capture license plates using their infrared illuminator. In license plate recognition cameras, IR illumination is far superior to white LEDs used by other manufacturers, as it produces light that is invisible to the human eye and does not disturb drivers. The LED power can be adjusted to match the actual reading distance. Keep in mind that in night mode the camera records in black and white, so vehicle colors cannot be identified.

For accurate plate recognition, perfect lens adjustment is essential. This is why our ANPR cameras are equipped with a motorized zoom lens that you can easily configure remotely via PC, NVR, or app. The lens features motor zoom and autofocus to automatically focus on the plate at the reading point. Low-speed models, typically intended for access control, have wider-angle lenses, while high-speed models have more powerful zoom. You can adjust the zoom to frame up to 3 lanes.

Unlike most ANPR cameras on the market, some of our LPR cameras feature a built-in microphone and a powerful speaker (A) that can be heard up to 20 meters away. You can use them to broadcast customized automatic voice messages or for two-way communication with drivers, an essential function for access control points. You can speak and listen easily from a computer or from the app.

These cameras are equipped with a microSD card slot (C) supporting up to 1TB. Some model also include a 4GB internal memory. The internal memory is used to store authorized plate lists as well as photos and videos of detected plates. The removable memory, on the other hand, can be used to save general-view video recordings, either continuously or only when detections occur. You can access both memory areas from a PC or the app. The microSD slot is protected by a sealed cover, which also shields the reset button (A) and the LED indicator showing proper SD operation (B).

All cameras in this range support POE power via the network cable (IEEE 802.3af Class 3). To make them work, all you have to do is connect them via network cable to a POE switch. If for some reason you cannot take advantage of POE power, alternatively you can a power the camera with a 12VDC power adapter. Only one network cable is needed to install our ANPR IP cameras.

Our ANPR cameras are housed in a waterproof IP66 enclosure suitable for outdoor installation and exposure to harsh weather conditions. The enclosure is made of robust aluminum and offers the highest IK10 impact resistance. The camera comes complete with a mounting bracket for wall or ceiling mounting.
To make installation easier, an optional mounting base is available. This WEATHERPROOF BOX is designed to protect all cable connections and features a pre-drilled cover for direct camera installation. If you need to mount the camera on a pole, you can also purchase the dedicated pole-mount accessory.

Every computer on the network becomes a fully functional control station for the LPR cameras. No software installation is required—simply open your favourite Internet browser. The user interface is feature-rich and multi-language. It is ideal for LIVE LICENSE PLATE MONITORING by security personnel, offering full monitoring functions, permission verification, and manual gate/door control. You can also SEARCH FOR LICENSE PLATES detected by the camera, check permissions, and review the video of the vehicle’s passage.
With your favourite Internet browser, you can configure all the settings of the license plate recognition camera. You will start with the IMAGE SETTINGS, most of which are automatically preset based on the vehicle speed you define. You will then choose the OCR ALGORITHM OPTIONS according to the needs of your application. Finally, you will configure THE ACTIONS TO BE EXECUTED when a plate is detected, depending on whether it is in the whitelist, blacklist, or unknown.
To manage our ANPR cameras from a computer, you can also use the IoVedo.RH software for Windows, available as a free download in the download area. This software is a powerful control station, ideal for security personnel. These ANPR cameras, in addition to license plate recognition capabilities, include several AI video analytics functions designed to detect anomalous situations occurring within the camera’s field of view. These functions can be used alongside license plate detection to provide real-time alerts for suspicious events.
When an anomalous situation is detected, the camera can start recording, trigger alarm outputs, and send notifications to apps, email, or FTP servers.

The cameras of this RH series, like all our IP cameras, can be used with network video recorders, also called NVR. These cameras are compatible with all NVR on the market that support the Onvif protocol. If you are building a brand new system we recommend our RK Series NVRs, for perfect compatibility.
ONVIF is the international association that brings together the leading IP camera manufacturers and defines the communication standard between IP-based security devices. By purchasing from us, you not only have the assurance of choosing one of the few Italian companies that are members of the association, but also the certainty of buying from the only Italian manufacturer that produces ONVIF-certified IP cameras. Our cameras are listed in the official “ONVIF Conformant” product registry, having successfully passed the stringent compliance tests required by the ONVIF Profile S standard.
These cameras already feature built-in internal storage for recording license plates and vehicle videos. In addition, they include a slot for a microSD card of up to 1 TB, allowing video recording even when no vehicles with detected license plates are present. Recording can be triggered by an intelligent alarm that detects anomalous situations, or it can be set to continuous mode based on a scheduled time program. Once the available storage space is full, automatic overwriting of the oldest files is typically enabled. You can easily review and download recordings remotely, and use the camera for recording even without an NVR.
The RH Series cameras are designed for high-tech applications where software interaction with other equipment is often required. We provide developers with free SDK libraries and APIs to control all functionalities of the cameras with their own software. Moreover, these cameras can be fully controlled via CGI commands (Common Gateway Interface) over HTTP/HTTPS protocol. The list of CGI commands is available in the MANUALS section.
