These cameras are designed for video surveillance in the countryside. They are equipped with an outdoor waterproof casing, painted in camouflage shades to blend perfectly with the foliage. They should be mounted on a tree branch or similar support and oriented towards the area to be monitored. Hunting cameras, also called trail cameras or photo traps, are ideal for monitoring farmland, vineyards, huts. They are also useful in an urban context for video surveillance of isolated areas. Thanks to the built-in batteries and to the PIR detector, these cameras do not require power supply and are very easy to install and operate.
These hunting cameras have a wide angle lens which allows around 110° view. Furthermore they are equipped with a PIR intruder detector, which activates the camera only when the presence of a person or animal is detected . Thanks to this sensor, the camera remains in standby for most of the time, consuming very little battery. When the PIR detects an intruder, the camera activates, recording photos or videos. Thanks to the PIR detector these cameras can remain active for long periods, waiting for an intrusion. PIR detectors, widely used in alarm systems, detect body temperature, so they are not effected by the movement of the foliage.
These fototraps are equipped with an infrared illuminator that allows you to shoot in the dark up to a distance of 20 m. The illuminator switch on automatically when darkness falls and consists of 940 nm LEDs which are totally invisible in the dark. The night shot is in black / white.
Despite their small size, these cameras take photos at 12MP and record videos at 2MP 25 f/s, like our best standard video surveillance cameras. The 2MP resolution, also called 1080P or Full HD (1920x1080 pixels), is the current standard of high resolution digital TV and guarantees excellent definition of details.
When the camera detects the presence of people or animals it can take a sequence of photos and even record a video of programmable duration . The cameras include a high sensitivity microphone for recording the audio.
Here you will find a real photo sequence, made with these cameras. You can enlarge the pictures to appreciate the quality of the shot.
These trail cameras record movies and photos on a removable SD memory card. The SD card is not included. To use these cameras you must purchase a Class 10 or higher SD card with a maximum capacity of 32GB. Do not buy slower SD cards, in class 4 or 6, because they would not work properly. The maximum storage capacity depends on the model. Remember that these cameras only take up memory space when they detect the presence of people.
|Card type||Micro SD|
|Max. storage||4 hours|
Playing the videos and pictures recorded on the SD card is very easy. You just have to plug the camera to a computer USB port with the included cable. Alternatively, you can remove the SD card from the camera and insert it into a USB reader, such as the one in this picture. You can browse photos and play AVI movies with common free players, such as VLC or Windows Media Player . Important files can be downloaded to your computer.
These cameras are designed for use in the open air and are therefore battery powered. They come with 18650 batteries (included), rechargable with the USB cable. The PIR detector allows a very long battery life in stand-by as the camera turn on only when an intruder is detected.
|BATTERY TYPE||2 x 18650 rechargeable (included)|
|MAX. BATTERY LIFE IN STAND-BY||12 months|
|AVERAGE BATTERY LIFE||6 months|
Besides the built-in battery power, all these hunting cameras can also operate directly on the mains. It is an excellent solution, if you have access to a power outlet, to get rid of battery-life issues. The DK-HT3 model can be powered with a USB power charger. You can find these optional power adapters among our POWER SUPPLY UNITS.
These photo traps base their operation on the PIR intruder detector, thanks to which it remains in stand-by when there is no presence of people, thus saving battery. In order for this system to be effective you must install the camera where there is an occasional presence of people . For example, it is an ideal solution for monitoring country houses, farmland, construction sites etc. It is not convenient for you to use these hunting cameras where there is a constant passage of people because it would continuously record and would run out of batteries shortly. As an example, here you can see the shot of a camera used against illegal waste spill.
