If you connect an IP camera to a POE switch you can use a network cable up to 100 meters long. 100 m. they may seem like a lot, but if you are building an extended system, for example in an open space, you will easily need more distance. Of course you can cover large sites with peripheral POE switches, but the switches require power and are not waterproof, so they are often unconvenient to install. If you want to easily extend a POE line you can use these POE repeaters. They are equipped with two RJ45 network ports (input and output) and do not require power. You can install them once the first 100 meters of wiring are exhausted to re-launch a further 100 meters. See below an example of an application that take advantage of one POE repeater and and POE repeater+distributor.
These repeaters do not require power because they take power from the POE line, consuming just 1.2W. After the first 100 meters of cable, all you have to do is enter and exit a repeater to continue for another 100 meters. You can connect up to 4 modules in series, depending on the power required by the camera. Look at this table: with POE+ switches, like ours, you can get up to 500 meters with normal CAT5E cable.

A very useful POE repeater in this range is the model with 1 input and 2 POE outputs. In addition to relaunching POE power, this product splits the network in two directions, allowing you to connect 2 IP cameras on a single cable. This way you avoid having to install a switch, much more unconvenient to install than our small repeater, which you can easily connect anywhere, along the cable.
These POE repeaters support both 10/100 and 10/100/1000 ethernet. IP cameras have a 10/100 network interface and generally take no more than 10 Mbps each, depending on the video streaming setting. So you do not have to worry about bandwidth, because using our extenders will not reduce the performance of your network or your cameras. You can even use these repeaters to extend the connection between 10/100/1000 switches while maintaining full communication speed.
This range of POE repeaters includes waterproof models for outdoor mounting.
The sturdy aluminum casings are fitted with watertight cable glands and guarantee IP66 degree of protection. You can install these POE extenders outdoors or in underground wells, without fearing that water or humidity can penetrate inside. Nothing better to achieve long outdoor wiring without the need to install junction boxes along the cable.
